This work in four parts depicts Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin taking leave of each other after a rendezvous in a film from 1966. The repetition of format and content alludes to the repetition of behaviour—repeated affairs, a long ongoing affair, or any sort of illicit or detrimental behaviour. Increasingly abstract, the works show us how our experiences lead us farther and farther from the reality we once knew. A new world is created—a parallel reality. It is at once mysterious, fascinating, arousing and curious, but is it real? What is real?

This is the first of a four parts, which is available complete or separately and completed using acrylic, oil and spray paint on canvas.
