A self-taught artist, Ana spends most of her time surfing around Florida and painting ocean inspired abstracts. She graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. Ana begun painting at an early age when she was twelve-years-old. At the time she concentrated on landscapes and portraits made with oils. Her pieces stood out, and her professors encouraged her to concentrate on art. After moving from Ukraine to Miami, Ana discovered a new passion – abstract art. Her inspiration came from her new-found hobby surfing. There is this intense and overwhelming connection with the sea. The world can come down on her shoulders and once she paddles out and catches a few waves, nothing matters anymore. She began painting water and the movement of water. This pushed her to dive into her new-found love for ocean inspired abstracts. Experimenting and trying new things is what she loves most about art. Without a new challenge art is just dull and plain to her. She loves pushing her limits and seeing what she can create out of her comfort zone. The little details and memories she chose to retain while she spent time in the water can be seen in her work. All of her pieces are bits of her and the ocean that surrounds us. Ana’s art is like the ocean – vast, mighty and in a constant state of flux.
