Flavio Cesarini is an European architect and visual artist. He started painting during his study in architecture at the University of Florence. He actually prefers oil color and digital media. When observing his artistic production a predilection for intuitive forms and strongly characterized figures can be easily discovered. Color is very important as well and is searched through several watercolor studies. His landscapes are reminding Mediterranean hills or Dutch “polders”. Often the forms are modeled with spatulas to create a sort of “stacciato”. The shadows get mixed with the colors, the surface is irregular and nervous. The photographs are abstractions that often develop into a painting or a bas-relief. Their production needs a patient research, and the capacity of synthesizing forms. The videos are simply dreams. Flavio Cesarini’s recent work shows a greater degree of expressive freedom. Color streams and forms reflect the painter’s inner mood. This is more evident in his works on paper while when working on canvas, with oil colors, we can still notice that the artist often bases his composition on an accurate preliminary sketch-work. Actually (2025) his artistic research implies the use of photography, image manipulation software, giclée print and traditional painting techniques in order to obtain series of artworks sharing the same abstaction.
