“Kismet”, a Turkish word used all around the world, actually has an Arabic root. It’s a belief that brings us comfort in whatever we experience, whether good or bad, lucky or unlucky. Belief in destiny has its own versions in many religions and civilizations, as in Islam. The concept of kismet, whic...

Textured Light: My Unique Process I create my works exploring the themes of light and uncertainty as one-of-a-kind pieces. In these works, I present beams of light against an ambiguous background. Through this theme, I emphasize the fluidity of meaning attributed to light when its clarity dissolves. Using a technique I have personally developed, I create a textured surface on epoxy resin, allowing the light effects to interact dynamically with the relief. I achieve these effects through careful surface manipulation and the application of spray paint. About me: Art has always been a part of my life, even during my time as a sociology student. I deeply enjoyed studying sociology and urban studies, where I completed my master’s degree, but creating art was always a necessity for me. During these years, I took painting classes from various artists in Istanbul. In 2020, I began selling my artwork for the first time under the name "Kara Vox," and I quickly became captivated by the ability to connect with others through art. From 2014 to 2019, I was actively involved in the field of forced migration, both academically and as a volunteer. I can now see how this experience has influenced my art. In my master’s thesis, I explored 'uncertainty,' particularly within the context of refugee journeys. This theme has extended into my art, specifically in my recent exclusive works, where I express 'uncertainty' through the ambiguity of light beams, symbolizing the fluid and shifting nature of reality. While I enjoy creating limited and continuous series of artworks under the name 'Kara Vox' in my studio, which allows me to reach hundreds of collectors at affordable prices, I am now focused on producing one-of-a-kind pieces using a technique I developed specifically for my exclusive works, which feature my personal signature.
