Tidewater Itch is me, Kevin Lancaster. I have been a painter all my life, well, not really. It has just taken a lifetime of experiences to help me find it. Painting is relatively new to me, I have worked as a graphic designer over the past 17 years, with brief stints in the dive industry, "are you for SCUBA?" I gave teaching a try... Good grief, not sure what I was thinking there. I was the Head Master of the Island Academy (stay at home dad!) Had good jobs and some not so good, or maybe it was me, I just couldn't understand why you had to sit inside all day behind a computer wearing dress up clothes and shoes... Today, thanks to the love and support of my family, friends, and well, a strange twist of fate, I sit as an artist or craftsman, pretty cool, I think. I look forward to every day, every painting, the process, the subject, its all so fun! I hope you enjoy my art and you see my love for painting in each piece. My paintings come from what influences me in a positive uplifting way; Family (LOVE THEM!), Friends (the BEST!), the ocean, all the marvelous creatures in and around the water, music, big 'ol slobbery dogs, nature, surfing or at least a form of it, and a lifetime of experiences. I have a kind of painterly style, not sure what you call it. My influences early on, Norman Rockwell's Americana style, Cuban themed posters and surf art. Now I see so many great artists that it's just kind of amazing; styles galore, talent everywhere. Not sure where I fit in but I do not pretend to be like any other, I am what I am, an evolving artist. Every day, I gain new insight to the craft I have found and a deeper respect and joy for all of those artists that took the same leap to trust their gift of creativity and share it with others. I hope you enjoy and like what you see. If you ever have a question, comment, or would like a commissioned piece of art... Please contact me, I would be truly honored to work with you.
