Anatoly Shumkin was born and raised in Kazakhstan. After graduation from I.Repin State Academy of Arts he worked on the project "Ecce Homo". This project included series of genre paintings, scenes from Jesus life and portraits of his contemporaries. When Anatoly became a highly demand realist painter, he realized that standards of classical painting and a need to cater to the commissioner’s taste limited his potential. You can watch a film about Anatoly and the project "Ecce Homo" if you type in Google search: "Film about artist Anatoly Shumkin Sintonia Art Project", "Ecce Homo Documentary". During his traveling through Europe and the USA Anatoly explored the world of contemporary art finding new shapes and new opportunities. He found his own way of mixing academic art and unpredictability in techniques of modern art, new materials and tools helped shaped his new style. Anatoly creates his own world, transferring his imagination onto canvas, lots of experiments with new shapes and patterns. Anatoly is always looking for actual instant creative impulse, he turns the moments into eternity that lives in these unique art-objects. You can watch a short video about Anatoly's first exhibition after he decided to do conceptual art if you Google: "Metamorphoses - art exhibition 06.09 - 06.10.19". Currently, the artist is working on a series of conceptual works in his studio in St. Petersburg.
