I love the pop art style of repeating elements and made a fun photo of this piece repeating. Contrasting colours and values bring this small piece alive. Could be fun in a kitchen or coffee area. The title of Vesselhood refers to our human state in life. We are merely the container of the One living...

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33 Art has become a passion for me! I live in Northamptonshire, UK, with my husband, Jon, and our two sons. I graduated from the University of Sussex in Biology, so art has been something that came along after formal education for me. I have been blessed to have an Artist Mentor in Steven Page Prewitt. I am also inspired by Brian Simons, Nancy Medina, Robert Burridge, Nicholas Wilton, Richard Claremont and Lesley Grainger and Page Prewitt. A breakthrough for me was in understanding value and its importance in successful paintings. One of the first painting exercises I loved doing was Bob Burridge’s pears. The idea is to warm up by painting a series of very simple pears – so fun! This exercise highlights value by painting each pear as if illuminated from one side, the resulting darks and lights produce an eye-catching result. I paint primarily in acrylic and I also like experimenting with collage and mixed media.
