This piece was creating at the beginning of Virgo season in 2018. I feel like the moon and the maiden belong together. There was something really amazing about the Full Moon we had in Virgo that happened on March 1st, 2018. It happened to be the 3rd consecutive full moon that was at 11 degrees in a sign. The number 11 is a gateway - a portal into the next level of spiritual growth, and the year 2018 (2+0+1+8=11) offered us many, many portals of spiritual growth throughout the year. The message of this particular Full Moon in Virgo was that through this 11 portal we can find inner peace. Peace only exists in one place - the Present. Perhaps that is the "gift," if you will, of the Present moment - Peace. If you want peace now, fully commit to being present. The woman in this image is relaxing into her Present moment, and experiencing the quiet peace that dwells there. As she seemingly does nothing, new things are blooming in her and around her. Spiritual growth abounds with minimal effort. This painting was created on 3 layers: Layer 1 - watercolor paper with watercolor, dye inks with matte acrylic blossoms Layer 2 - watercolor and ink on acetate film Layer 3 - ink and gesso on acetate film This painting comes matted and framed and even though the layers have been compressed you can still see the depth and shadow each subtle layer provides. A very delicate and contemplative piece.
