Sharing my addiction to capturing landscapes and cityscapes, I'd like to explain the main reason behind it. What I find fascinating is that I've discovered certain places, whether in the countryside or the city, seem to communicate with us in a unique way, almost like separate living entities. So, through my photography, I aim to express and share what these places are trying to tell us. (And no, I'm not kidding, sometimes I'm not.) A bit of background: I was born in 1963 in Riga, Latvia, and spent my childhood on the shores of the serene Baltic Sea, surrounded by sandy dunes and pine forests. As a young boy, I would eagerly race along the water's edge at sunrise, collecting jellyfish in the transparent, salty waves, or simply bask in the sun-warmed forest, listening to the gentle whispers of the pines in the light breeze. My father, an architect, played a significant role in shaping my perspective. We spent countless hours together capturing photographs of our town, its buildings, and the parks. He not only taught me the art of photography, drawing, and painting (which I later pursued independently) but also instilled in me the ability to feel the world and everything around me. My focus lies in: Uncovering hidden dynamics... Exploring color transitions... Revealing subtle, often overlooked details... Transferring the mood of a place... And more. I believe that, perhaps involuntarily, I seek to discover and reveal what bridges the realms of science and art – the inherent beauty that serves as the foundation for love and the driving force behind our commitment to saving and preserving our world."
