Madeleine Soloway is an interdisciplinary artist, currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. Often combining photography and printmaking, Soloway’s layered approach to process and material explores themes relating to a timeless notion of place, memory, and unanticipated encounters. Often merging universal symbols with personal imagery, Soloway’s work blurs the border between memory and reality as a means to examine underlying, collective narratives in an unpredictable and transitory world. Her current photographic images of houses and water express a sense of vulnerability, profoundly relevant to our complex relationships with the changing and precarious planet. Originally from Boston, Madeleine Soloway has been an exhibiting artist in the Atlanta area for the past 32 years and former faculty member at The Paideia School for 25 years. Soloway earned her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and her MFA from Washington University in St. Louis. With several solo exhibitions at the Jeremy Stone Gallery, San Francisco, in the 1980’s Soloway’s work landed in many important private SF Bay Area collections, and developed a strong following. More recently, Madeleine Soloway regularly exhibits her photographic based mixed media prints in solo and group museum and gallery exhibitions throughout Georgia.
