Jurga Luca - a Lithuanian artist living in the London. Although J. Luca started photography in 2011, she already actively participates in exhibitions, runs personal exhibitions and increasingly often receives positive ratings. J. Luca's photography contains a dose of phantasmagoria and a cinematographic manner of laying out images. It's not uncommon for her creations to use family photographs (of great-grandparents from 1900's, and grandparents and parents from 1950's). She uses all this archival material as a source of inspiration for ideas and as a base for her creations. They are supplemented by today's images captured in various countries. To reach the desired result, the artist not only touches up pictures with computer programs, but corrects them by hand - pencils, paint, etc. J. Luca's photographs - a past, hard to remember time. It is sorted into a more or less cohesive plot not by memories, but by fragments of conversations, and smells and sounds reflected from a distant past. Here reality decays, drowning with it links to today and leaving almost no signs of the present. The visible surface is covered by a thick fog, sometimes decorative, sometimes the opposite, ceaselessly swallowing life. Reckognisable faces, things, fairly easily assumed as own situations, don't help. The feeling doesn't leave that they are lives which have been lived, and the pictured people have become heroes of archival photographs.Mystical, almost supernatural creatures hypnotise. They pull you into a tale, forcing to feel uncomfortable as if being constantly watched. And you no longer know who is the weird one, you or them.
