Jitka Petrášová, MSc *1981 Strakonice. Painter, graphic artist, illustrator and fashion designer. She graduated from the Secondary Private Art School in Písek, majoring in modeling and clothing design, then the Department of Art Education at the Faculty of Education of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, where she graduated in 2008 under the guidance of an excellent teacher, academic painter Roman Kubička. She is currently studying the fourth year of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the Painting 1 studio. She has had more than twenty solo and forty collective exhibitions, she is a member of the free association of artists Cloister, which has been meeting annually since 2004 at a traveling exhibition of the same name in various parts of the Czech Republic (in the summer of 2023 their twentieth joint show will take place, the project was also presented in the Municipal Museum in Blatná in 2017). Her work is represented, for example, in the collections of the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery, the Prácheň Museum in Písek, the Artotheque of the Municipal Library in Prague or the Sport in Art Gallery in Prague, as well as in a number of private collections in the Czech Republic, Belgium, France and Germany. In her free work, Jitka concentrates on the formative moments of her childhood (in the painting cycles U babičky, Childhood, Gauneři, but also in the extensive cycle Collection of Athletes), which are the strongest inspiration for her. Her characteristic painterly style is formed by fast, expressive and rationally uncorrected brushstrokes, expressive colours, reduced to convincing colour chords, and the ability to capture the grotesque aspects of her own and human existence in general with ironic detachment and in a bravura drawing abbreviation.
