Amani Hanson

Art has been an integral part of my life since I was young and continues to grow with me. My husband and I lived in Hawaii for 7 years and during that time my art took on a new vibrancy influenced by the incredible colors of the islands. I have used many mediums but currently, my favorite is combining acrylic paint and resin. I love using it to create layers of texture and depth. Texture is a key part of my paintings and an element I strive to preserve even in the prints.

Painting is an opportunity to pull something out of my heart and onto the canvas. Often times it is through the process of the painting that I get clarity about what my instinct was telling me, while other times it isn't until the painting is finished that I understand the full meaning of it.
My paintings are often about moving toward something or about finding identity- it's all about the journey of becoming who you are meant to be, living to the fullest, and impacting lives around you in the process.
