Luis Guillermo Gonzalez

Luis Guillermo González Romero is born September 27, 1976 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.

The first artistic experiences that Luis Guillermo recognizes in his life are musical. From an early age he is exposed at home to a diversity of styles where not one is considered more valuable than the other: Jazz, Rock, Bossa Nova, Cha-Cha, Classical Music & Opera are some of them. This large variety formed a curious ear. As an adolescent he was intrigued by the European musical influences: The Cure, Depeche Mode, Morrissey. His speakers in the 90’s vibrate with Autechre, Future Sound of London, Carl Cox and Sven Väth. With this musical background and technical pen in hand, he starts to work in these adolescent years on the lines we now recognize as one of his favorite recourses and always present in his work: perfect lines and lines that curl elaborately.

Luis Guillermo shares that most of his work has a degree of experimentation in its printed energy: “I strongly believe that the artist who stops experimenting, in a way he/ she preserves the lines and formulas but leaves aside the passion and emotion that comes from pouring his/ her own energy onto the artistic piece.” Currently the musical notes of Eluvium and Two Fingers score the forms that come from his brushes, markers, pens and spray bottles.
