Arturo Gil

In recent years his eagerness and curiosity to (un)learn how to look has brought him back to the analogue dimension of art; his current work is oriented towards a re-evaluation of "traditional" media such as easel painting and its capacity to reflect and analyse a reality fragmented and filtered by the digital.

At the end of the 1990s he presented his first solo exhibition of painting and drawing at Mexico City's Corredor Cultural Roma. During the first decade of the 21st century, alongside his work in advertising as a motion designer, he developed a series of multimedia projects (animation and video art/video performance, live cinema) that brought him recognition and invitations to specialised festivals such as: Mapping Festival (CH), CutOut Fest (MX FICCO (MX), Internationales Videofestival Bochum (DE) and Live Cinema NIghts (USA) among others. His work as a video-jockey and video-artist has been published in compilations for the audiovisual labels V-Attak (FR) and Lightrhythm Visuals (UK).
