By blending realism, surrealism and symbolism, Avihai transfers the natural and individual world as he understands it. Avihai combines figurative humanity, which is reflected in his personal life, into the life of existential nature and flight, bringing all orderly patterns into one visual scene.
These scenes exhibit the existential reality, the environmental harmony and the complexity of the human invention.
Elevations, My Dear is a continuation of Avihais magical journey which began at a moment of grace. A journey through a long curved road, isolated at times, flooded with illusions and subject to various metamorphoses. A journey that began with sweeping sensation insight, boisterous colors, rejuvenation, examination of unanswered mysteries and at its end, crusts yet another piece of simplified conclusion, but still, honest.
Avihai Cohen, born 1963, an autodidact painter from childhood, came to independent art only at the beginning of the 21st century after going through a series of back operations, in which the last one left his left leg disabled. At the previous period of his life, Avihai owned a studio for design and illustration. As of the 21st century he became a wholly dedicated painter and artist.

In his new exhibition of a series of epic paintings in the "Givataim theatre", Avihai Cohen confronts the heroic and the idealistic, the beautiful and exalted, the enchanted and the marvelous. His oil paintings are not only monumental because of their size but also for their fascinating mythical content. As if it were quoted from one of the works of the exceptional Portuguese author Fernando Pasua, Cohen does not deal with daily or banal aspects of life. He pictures an incredible virtuosity from his inner thoughts and feelings that disturb his rest, deals with the epic romantic dialogue with his personal wonderment, which he sees and feels. He draws the composition of his personal life and his constant Sisyphean wonderment for perfection and idealism. Avihai Cohen seems a suffering prophet whose body betrayed him in mid-life and commanded him to surrender to his physical impairments, but at the same time appointed him and blessed his natural talents towards the wonderful journey to the drawers of his soul, to the artistic assignment that created a unique expression and an angel touch.
