Wingfield explores a range of printmaking practices, pushing the boundaries between the medium’s traditional approach and her own exploratory method of inkwiping. She wipes, scrapes, and blurs swaths of ink across a copper plate, then transfers the image onto paper. The hand cut copper plates are repeatedly used and serve as a canvas, decaying due to the natural oxidation processes. The fluid wipes of her work are a balance between emotional impulse and rigorous control of technique. Drawn to multi-sensory moments, she strives to capture the encompassing sensation of when color and light are fused with texture and movement.
BFA from Goucher College and studied fine art at Goldsmiths University in London and The Students Arts League in New York City.
