David Shkolny is an artist from Edmonton, Canada. He graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1992.
I work primarily in soft pastels because it is very direct and complements my working process of trial and error, risk taking and immediacy. The sensitivity of touch demanded by pastel is another facet of working with this medium that fascinates me. I see the landscape as a vast canvas (or in my case, mostly paper) that
begs exploration. The best way for me to do this is to be pulled into the painting by the medium and trust the process as it is revealed to me.
