Gabriele Bonavera

I am a Sicilian artist based in Milan. My work is deeply connected to the sea and nature, which I express through a minimalistic and essential approach to painting. My no-painting technique is based on subtraction and simplicity, where movement and imperfection become an essential part of my visual language.

One of the recurring symbols in my abstract works is the fish, a metaphor for a fundamental life choice: embracing one's creative nature and freedom, like a fish swimming in the open sea, or choosing the safety of an ordinary life, like a fish confined to an aquarium. I believe that art is the path that allows us to venture into the open sea and reconnect with our true essence.

For me, art is not just an individual act but a universal language that creates meaningful connections between people. My works are part of private collections in Italy and abroad, and I seek to present them beyond traditional circuits to encourage an authentic dialogue between artist and viewer.

I graduated from the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Rome with a three-year degree in visual arts and design.
