Hananta Nur

My father, a musician, introduced me to music as a small child and this served as a catalyst for my interest in the fine arts. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue my dream to be an artist and attended the Indonesian Art Institute of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, studying textile arts. While I am grateful for formal training in traditional batik style, staying within that context was ultimately too limiting and I’ve found fuller expression of my truth by incorporating abstract art into my batik creations. Now, I work from my home studio creating both abstract and wearable art, with influence from nature and the people I see in my neighborhood.
