Inspired by classical antiquity and Greek mythology, the graphite drawings of Australian artist Herk Alexander explore classical ideals, immortality, and the human form.
Sculptures of antiquity are reinterpreted with emotion and vulnerability through a self developed technique.
His works elicit a serene and melancholy beauty that invites reflection, drawing the viewer closer to reveal a pervasive rhythm of meticulous detail.
With each drawing he introduces a new perception of reality and aesthetic, through fractures and features of imperfection.
This unique body of work examines identity, characteristics of the human condition and the connection to the divine, in a distinctive style that is undeniably his own.
