Hiske Tas Bain, was born in occupied Europe, during WWII in The Hague, The Netherlands. Having come from a fairly creative background, Hiske expressed her Artistic talents at a very early age, along with the encouragement from family and friends she had no doubt that she would become an Artist. The Hague, has a great Artist community and a smorgasbord of diverse culture. This gave her the opportunity to study under some of the best tutors one could wish for.
After finishing her formal education in The Hague, she went on to attend Art School, first in De Haagse Academie voor Beeldende Kunst, then later De Haagse Vrije Academie, she then also went on to study in The Regent College of Art in London.
Being inspired by such art styles as, Surrealism, Dadaism, Magic realism, and stimulated by people in society, Culture, Music and Art, traveling became one of Hiske’s passions. She has journeyed and lived extensively throughout Europe and Asia. After having lived in Paris, London, New York, and Antwerp, she took up residence in Australia where she now lives and has worked for 46 years.
