Ilze Jansen Van Rensburg

Ilze Jansen van Rensburg recently relocated from South Africa to New Zealand. She is an environmental scientist by day and an artist always.

Her works consist of backgrounds of ink washes with sensitive pen drawings in the foreground, usually of trees as subjects. llze's creations have a magical fairytale-like charm, often with a threatening element just below the surface.

Through her works, Ilze comments on the destruction of nature by humans, something Ilze is confronted with every day in her work as environmental scientist.

Ilze trained under the South African artists Jancke Combrinck and Corne van Eck.

Her work is most influenced by German-Namibian artist Ulrich Schwanecke, who's work she was exposed to during a Namibian trip.

Ilze has had solo exhibitions in New Zealand and South Africa and also participated in various group exhibitions and art competitions in both of these countries.
