Irina Samoylovskaya

Lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine. Temporary in Odesa.

My art practice stems in a long academic studies and is based on the traditions of realistic Ukrainian and former Soviet Union school of drawing and painting.

I explore the world around me that is seen in a more unusual way than it seems. I appeal to the visual interpretations of self-awareness, consciousness, esotericism and philosophy. My interests lie in the sphere of introspection as well as world global ideas.

Tending to study new techniques and mediums I try to combine abstract and realistic languages in painting and drawing. I am also interested in video, photography and installation.

Since book illustration is my first degree I also partly work as an illustrator, preferring literature for adults.
