Creating artworks is, for me, an open process which is often evolutionary. This unfolding could be a struggle between the intended and the unexpected. Every mark becomes a record of the moment. In striving for an intended outcome, we see interplay between spontaneity and the studious avoidance, and eventual acceptance of revelation of struggle. In the evolvement of intention, there may be hesitance to obliterate one's current construct by striving for more, but going forth reveals tantalising nuggets, leaving destiny open.

The works presented here are figures drawn from life, which has been an interest of mine since I was quite young. As a child, I recognised people both intuitively, and physically. Over time, I’ve grown to appreciate the mime and gestural aspects of the way people use their bodies and hold themselves.

I find that there is something beautiful or captivating about every one, which the drawing process helps to define. These works are a record of my reaction to the person in front of me. They are presented as they are, with no attempt to embellish or refine them, but allow their own character to show.
