A viewer once said of my work…” Your art reminds people of themselves, of who they really are. They recognize the art they forgot about...  They realize they do know, and can know, and that they never really lost themselves, that they are still there and it makes them happy…”

I see art as something that is illuminating, healing and necessary. Creating something unique, merging color with form, and revealing new aesthetics, is a passion of mine. My body of visual artwork is influenced by a lifelong study of world cultures, music and dance. I believe through art, we can find a way see something beyond expectations, opening up new worlds of possibilities. My aim in my own work, is to emerge with an outcome that can move and awaken. My concern for the Earth’s environment, starting with our oceans, reveals itself through the images in some of my work, and the sustainable materials I am incorporating into my art practice.

A multi-disciplinary and visionary artist, Julia’s artistic formative years were growing up in South Miami, Florida, where as a young child, she grew up immersed in the counter culture scene at the time. Art was everywhere and at home, starting with her own mother, an artist and a painter. Julia grew up in and around a multicultural environment in Miami, and has lived and worked among a variety of cultures from around the world.

As a young adult, Julia made a break away from visual aspect of the arts and went on to formally study music, especially, classical piano, earning her Master’s degree in Music from the University of Miami, and having a performing and teaching career. Up to this point, her creative focus has been centered on her fiber art. She has also expanded out into some 3-D pieces, collage and structural designs. “For me, art is illuminating, healing and necessary. I love creating and merging colors with form, revealing new esthetics.”
