Katie Gunther Novella

I have been creating art for as long as I can remember. I began studying art as a child and grew to love color, texture and design. During High School I studied under master artist Kwok Wai Lau and instructor Doug Stanton. I had my first art show when I was 16 where I sold my first painting. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art. While attending school I studied under Guy Kinnear, William Catling, Susan Ney, Kent Bulter and Kiran Gaya. I furthered my artistic skills in a variety of mediums but concentrated on painting and drawing. During this time I grew fond of working with acrylic paints and pen and ink drawings. Since graduating college I have continued to show my work in galleries and strengthen my skills while working full time.

Art is a way to express our inner emotions and capture our environment on canvas or paper. My art represents the emotion within that is expressed with color and images on her paintings. My latest technique involves painting acrylic abstract background and drawing images on top of the paint with ink. I hope my paintings will sooth and excite my viewers. My art is filled with movement and passion for beauty that comes from within.
