Rikke Kiil

I was born surrounded by nature, creative and the cold war. This mix of beauty and death keeps being a topic in all what I do. Not that it is death or roses but the contrast of light and dark and the light in the dark.

I paint to make sense, to make my mind clear and to be able to be in this world. The only thing that ever has made my world understandable and made me able to get up in the mornings have and has always been creativity. I just stop exist if I don't express myself either in art, writing, design or creating experiences that are a form of art installation.

It was not until 2000 that I made a full time focus on and into art. I learned that the only way to keep the creativity flow, grow and inspire I needed to be true to my own way and my own expression. It means that I always work beyond the nice expression to create a piece of art that I know can stand and Speak on it's own. It also means that I take around six months to create one painting and I work on more then one at the time.
