Laura Lleal

I base my practice on the grounds that we are all a “work in progress, always under construction”. I explore and test the boundaries of simplicity by manipulating the materials as little as possible while contrasting and questioning their attributes. I narrated stories about the universality of the human condition regardless of education, age or background. Two pillars of my work are the use of construction and architectural elements, and the use of materials that have been in existence in all cultures for over
millennia, including yarn, paper and pigments. I am interested in the relationship between materials, composition, color, texture and scale, converging to evoque the introspection of the individual or the individual in relation to others. My work is an evolving exploration and
experimentation that challenges the viewer to find beauty and comfort in our shared commonalities and humanity.
