I come from a family of Flemish painters.
When I was little, I was taught to paint the light.
But I already needed to tear up pieces of magazine paper to put together kind of imaginary puzzles that I covered with paint, like an interior landscape, like buried stories that I couldn't tell otherwise.
I always did that, all the time.
Painting is for me both a game and a language.
I paint like one makes music.
Coming from a family of painters from the North and Belgium, she was very early aware of working with light. From her training at the Atelier Met de Penninghen (Superior School of Graphic Arts - Julian Academy), she was spotted at the age of twenty for her invented technique consisting of a collage of fragments of magazine papers on the canvas undergoing discoloration and receiving in the last step an application of oil paint. This results in a particular transparency qualified as a "stained glass effect". She immediately received her first prizes (all the Hurepoix prizes from her first participation, then the Young Painting prize at the Grand Palais) and made her first official sales at Drouot Montaigne (D.Stall contemporary art catalogs). The gallery owner's welcome that followed led her to quickly professionalize.
Exclusivity contract for 15 years with Artclub gallery 172 Rue de Rivoli - Paris 1er - France
SINCE SEPTEMBER 3, 2021 On the occasion of the American film of Deauville, Le Romantica is hosting an exhibition of paintings. Guest artist: Nathalie Lemaître with her "American Series", a renewed vision of the American dream, full of enthusiasm and mystery. About forty large canvases await you in the lobby and corridors of the hotel, drawing a labyrnthic journey through the secret heart of a city that we think we know. America, Nathalie knows, New York in particular where she stays frequently. But her New York is not that of tourists. She has just painted the sites of the shooting of a feature film to which she has made her pictorial contribution (Blackstar, a brand new project by Théophile Minuit). Noted as official painter of the America Literary Festival in Vincennes, she had already surprised with the joyful and colorful energy of her urban painting.
