Claudine Loquen

Claudine Loquen was born in the town of Sainte-Adresse in France's Seine Maritime region. From a very early age, she was immersed in a family atmosphere fairly bursting with artistic inspiration. She soon traded in her dolls for paintbrushes, encouraged by her mother, a cultivated, loving woman who would tenderly watch over me as I painted until 3 a.m when I was but nine years old. Such a propensity for the plastic arts naturally led Claudine Loquen to study at the Lyce Claude Monet in Le havre and then at the School of Fine Arts in Rouen, years of discovery during which she found her first masters : Dufy, Chagall, Chaissac, Frida Kahlo, Alose and Marie Laurencin, to name but a few. It's Monet's vision of Berthe Morisot on her balcony, however, that is seared most deeply in Claudine Loquen's mind. Today, Claudine Loquen principally paints on canvas or wood with acrylic and oil paints. She attaches increasing importance to the effects created by her materials.
