Marina Stoponja

In my sculptural and painting projects, I work on themes that describe life in its physical, artistic and sociological aspects. Besides the interpretation, trough three-dimensional shape that came out of nature that made all shapes long time ago I also explain the theme of human relationships. Besides humanistic themes my eternal inspiration is nature. Many of my projects are dedicated to the preservation of endangered animal species. One of those projects is Northern white rhino project designed to raise awareness of extinction caused by poaching. Material that I use is mostly marble or marble in combination with bronze or some other material. My sculptures and paintings are often self-portraits and biographical descriptions of my character that come out trough precise technical production in the material.

Marina Stoponja was born Nov 10th 1959 in Zagreb, Croatia. Graduated in 1999 from The Academy of Fine Arts in the sculpting department. Member of HDLU / IAA since 1999, member of HZSU since 2001. Attending the postgraduate study in the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.
