ABOUT
EDUCATION
EXHIBITIONS

I live in the South West of Scotland with my husband Ian and have been a member of Dumfries & Galloway Fine Art Society for several years. The Society was founded in 1922 and celebraters its centenary in 2022. Early members include E.A. Hornel, Charles Oppenheimer and Jessie King.
My art style is expressionistic and contemporary and I have worked in several mediums over the last few years but presently use Acrylics or soft pastels to render my seascape paintings. When using Acrylics, I use a range of paints, including Winsor & Newton, on Winsor & Newton thrice primed canvas mounted on a wooden frame. For Pastels I use either Winsor & Newton universal paper or Ingres paper.

My background is in Science and Education but I have always had an interest in Art. I obtained my first degree (Open) Bsc in Science in 1966 and later a Bsc (Biological Sciences) from the University of Edinburgh. I then obtained PGCE (Open,) PGDE (Open) and was a tutor with our local Adult Education Department before obtaining my Masters in Education (Lifelong Learning.)
The late Anne Taylor, herself a member of DAGFAS, tutored mixed media painting privately within Gracefield Art Building and it was here I was introduced to drawing and painting with a view to exhibiting my work.
Since then I studied with the London Art College and obtained a Diploma (with Merit) in Illustrating Children's Books.

As well as the above-named events, I have had one Private Exhibition in the Kirkcudbright Tolbooth Art Gallery and my past artwork has found its way across the pond to Canada and America. Recently,
I was recently invited to submit paintings for the June 2022 'Aid Ukraine Exhibition' at The Pentagon Centre in Glasgow, U.K and was one of the artists to sucessfully sell there.
I will be exhibiting works at The Dumfries & Galloway Fine Arts Society Annual Exhibition, which runs from 1st July - to 1st August 2023.
