Melissa North

Melissa is a London based illustrator and screenprinter creating vibrant silk-screen artworks. Influenced by analogue processes, Melissa collages together photographs, drawings and handmade textures, resulting in layered prints that have a tactile quality. Her bright and bold colour palettes are inspired by those that she has used in her print studio. Years of mixing pigments by eye and adopting a playful approach to printmaking has made Melissa an expert in colour, and one of her greatest joys is discovering new and surprising combinations.

A lover of travel and nature, Melissa draws inspiration from the places she has been (or would like to go to) with a particular focus on biodiversity. Bringing her images to life with a narrative is an important part of Melissa’s process and inspiration for this is found by researching local history, wildlife, people or looking to the architecture and urban details of a location.
