Art for Nabila is escapism.
An escape from the restrictions, confinements and definitives of everyday life.
As a result Nabila takes a primal approach to her art, letting her instincts and chance guide her. Nabila is inspired by dadaism, surrealism, abstract expressionism and fauvism. The reasoning and methods of these art movements have led to her own art aesthetic, method and approach.
Nabila’s aesthetic consist of maximalism, deconstructions, gestural markings, exaggerations and colour play. The spirit of her art project rawness, expressiveness and playfulness.
Nabila Ibrahim holds a double degree Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication from AIU London and South Bank University.
Formally based in the United Kingdom, Nabila moved to Abuja Nigeria where she designs contemporary African printed textiles. Nabila enjoys various art forms such as literature, theatre, cinema, performance and music. A cheerful person at heart, Nabila believes love is everything and everything is love. She is a lover of sunrise, sunshine and sunsets.
