Alexandra Pennycook

As a full-time artist, there are several themes that inspire and keep me motivated: dogs, drinks, flowers, people and landscapes. A couple of my favourite artists who bring all the elements together in an original and technically awesome way are John Waterhouse and Norman Rockwell.

An honours graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design (5 year program), Alexandra’s formal art training continued at the British Institute in Florence, Italy and later at the University of Waterloo with studies in Renaissance painting and in art conservation and restoration.
Alexandra has received several awards for her work, including the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award for figurative painting, the Mrs. W. O. Forsythe Scholarship, the Elmwood Club Award (Best Woman Artist at OCAD) and the City of Vaughan’s People’s Choice Award. Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections in Vancouver, New York, Miami, Mexico City, Hong Kong, Australia and Europe.
