Born in Pamplona and graduate in graphic design in Barcelona, Javier Aristu is a visual artist who is particularly interested in natural tensions, of course between attraction and repulsion but also between idea and form, form and color, color and light, light and shadow, ink and light, analysis and synthesis, cryptic and obvious, choice and renounce, one and other, natural and sophisticated, chaos and order, in and out, part and whole, nothing and thing, thing and think, think and feel, emotion and reason, memory and oblivion, letters and numbers, pictures and words, words and music, music and time, time and space, energy and matter, chance and destiny, animal and human, group and individual, poor and rich, freedom and safety, meaningful and nonsense or even that and this. Playing with photography, graphics, video, audio, objects, writings or series, his work can be categorized into two main areas, one photographic inspired by looking and other conceptual produced by thinking. Among his most conscious influences are Bruce Nauman, Piero Manzoni, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Stanley Kubrick, Sophie Calle, Tibor Kalman, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Elliott Erwitt or Monty Python, while the unconscious ones are countless.
