There is something peaceful and timeless about being amongst cows, the way they graze slowly across a field, the way they chew their cud looking off into the distance. I came across this trio of jersey cows in their summer pasture on my morning ramble. I love the honesty and curiosity in their faces...

I was born and raised in New York State and currently reside in the soft, gentle Catskill Mountains. I've loved photographing my environment ever since I got my first camera at 9 years of age. My photography is informed by my long-time, daily practice of Transcendental Meditation which connects me at a deeper level to the natural world of which we are all a part. We are not outside of nature but rather deeply interwoven in her richly textured fabric. I aim to capture and share delicate, transitory, moments in nature filled with beauty, mystery and emotion. I look for the fleeting, blurred boundaries, unknown meanings, unexpected juxtapositions and gestures that transform the ordinary into something emotional, poignant, even transcendental. Photography is like a visual meditation that allows me to see more deeply into the existence of my subjects. I find that my environment speaks to me and reveals its secrets to my camera. I photograph with an open heart. I like to create a strong sense of atmosphere by photographing in low light, in shade, or on cloudy and rainy days. That said, I can’t be limited to any one approach or subject. The subject guides me. The light guides me. My landscapes are usually not sweeping grand vistas but rather small slices of the landscape—intimate landscapes—something that I learned from viewing the nature photographs of Elliot Porter in the Sierra Club book, “In Wildness is the Preservation of the World”. Photographers who influenced my vision include Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter, Minor White, Paul Caponigro, John Sexton, Edward Weston, and Imogen Cunningham.
