Rob Cox

The Miami-based illustrator and teacher Rob Cox (b. Bangkok, Thailand) artworks are born from a love of theatrical dynamism with a careful observation from life. Combining this, he achieves a gritty naturalism of the human form. His traditional illustration methods require a significant investment of time and effort, truncated figures, and magnification of the picture-plane recreates intimate relatable compositions.

Trained as a sculptor with a broad range of interests and skills; he holds a BFA in Sculpture with a minor in Art History from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2000. After graduating he apprenticed in galleries and art foundries fabricating and pouring bronze for public art pieces across the country before making the transition to teaching artist.
