Rui XU is a London-based fashion artist, contemporary painter and a fellow at the Royal Society of Arts. She has devoted herself to ecological fashion via RUIXU Studio in the U.K. since she was awarded an Exceptional Talent in Fashion Industry by British Art Council in 2016. Xu’s book Xiang Wang Yi was awarded a Red Dot Design Award in Germany, 2013; the Gold Award at Design of Asia Awards in Hong Kong, 2013; the Most Beautiful Book of China, 2012; an Outstanding Design Annual Award of Tokyo Type Directors Club in Japan, 2011; a Silver Award at the 11th National Fine Arts Exhibition in China, 2009.
She studied at the Royal College of Art from 2014 to 2015.
She got her MA degree at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts (2004-2007), and then worked at the CAFA as an Associate Professor and the head of Fashion until 2016.
Xu held her solo exhibitions or worked as a leading artist at the Christie's Art Auction House, the V&A Museum, the Saatchi Gallery, the Zaha Hadid Design Gallery, the Royal College of Art (The main gallery Upper Gulbenkian), the Elephant Family, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the U.K.; and presented works at the Aalto University in Finland; the University of Michigan and the University of California in the U.S.A.; the Ferrand Museum in France and the 60th Miss World in China, to name but a few.
