Samah Bahajri

Hi!

My name is Samah. I am a self-taught artist based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I use art to detangle my thoughts and make sense of the world around me. I indulge in my own existence and believe that everything is connected. That we are all souls that exist in the same dimension working towards upgrading to the next one. We all have the responsibility to awaken each other and we are all doing that whether we are aware or not, by working on ourselves individually we contribute to the elevation of the collective consciousness.

I work with fabric, thread, paper, clay, gold leaf, and mosaic. I like materials that are malleable and delicate. I like it when I can break a medium apart and put it back together. I push it to be adaptive the same way a human has to adapt to its circumstances.

My art is a continuous dance between light and shadow, an abstract manifestation of letting go. I am in a constant state of letting go of my old self and peeling the layers of darkness to meet the truth. I connect to elements and adapt them to be an extension of the battle in my mind and soul.
