Santosh Kumar Sandilya

I am an artist living in the sacred city of Varanasi. My work is deeply inspired by the timeless beauty of this city, especially the iconic ghats of Banaras. Using the holy water of the Ganga as part of my creative process, I paint landscapes that reflect the soul of Varanasi—its rich culture, spirituality, and the stories etched into every corner. Each painting is not just a visual representation but a tribute to the eternal bond between the river, the city, and its people. Through my art, I aim to bring the sacred and
the sublime essence of Varanasi to life.

My primary study up to class-7 is from my village-Bahuara (Sasaram) and I’ve completed secondary and higher secondary studies from Bokaro steel city. During my schooling I met with one of my Art- Teacher Mr. Laxmi Narayan ‘Nayak’ whom I consider as my first art teacher. In the year 1994 I took admission in Lalit Kala Department of Banaras Hindu University for graduation, where I found Pro. P.V. Lal, Pro. Balwir singh, Pro. R. S. Dhir, Dr. Ravindra Nath Mishra, Mr. S. Mohanty, Mr. Jayshankar Mishra, Mr. Vedprakash Mishra and many other teachers, from whom I received my art education and completed my graduation in Lalit Kala (Dept. Of Fine Arts) in the year 1998. For my Post Graduation again I took admission in Lalit Kala of B.H.U. in the year 1998 where I met with the director of teachers & H.O.D. (Fine arts Dept.) Dr. Ravindra Nath Mishra as my teacher. I had opted ‘Nature Landscape’ as my subject. I got full support from my teacher and also got referral guidance from Dr. Anjan Chakraborty and Dr. Bhanu Agrawal from time to time. I received a Pre Commission Cadet course from The NCC Ocers Training Academy in 2011, National Defence training at Nagpur, Diploma in Yoga from B.H.U. and Photography course from B.H.U.
