Murphy is a rare contemporary artist because he`s concerned with society and creates significant paintings in relation to social and political contexts...- Time Magazine //

Continuing the historical tradition of painting as a medium of addressing the world, few contemporary artists have such a pronounced sense of art's duty to engage the past and the ethical questions of the present.

Most art is unconscious or self-conscious. Shannon Alexander Murphy takes it a step further – he engages self-awareness. It’s a powerful place to be and Murphy is a rare artist who wants to take us there.

Murphy’s latest series of paintings consequently explore the concepts of universal matter, chance and spontaneity.

Born in Australia, Shannon Alexander Murphy`s artistic career spans 17 years. He currently paints from his 19th century warehouse studio - an old bakery in inner city Berlin. When you are next in Berlin, book in for a studio tour and explore his warehouse.
