Shan Shan Sheng

Internationally known artist Shan Shan Sheng is a visual artist based in San Francisco and Shanghai.

Sheng has completed large scale artworks installed in four of the world’s ten tallest buildings. To date, Sheng has completed close to 65 large-scale permanent public art projects at locations around the world.

In 1982, Sheng left her native Shanghai to the United States to pursue her academic and artistic interests after winning a full arts scholarship to Mount Holyoke College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she earned her Master of Fine Arts Degree. She continued to Harvard University as an artist-in residence for two years.

Sheng's large scale sculpture “Open Wall” was included in the 53rd Venice Biennale as part of an exhibition organized by the International Association of Art, UNESCO, Italian Committee. Her works appear in public collections and art museums around the world including Harvard University, China National Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, among others.

Sheng has held over forty solo exhibitions in Europe, Asia, and America.
