Julia Reilly

I am South African born and grew up in Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal. My interest in Art began at a very early age and I was privileged to be able to attend fun and creative classes when I was young. I took Art as a subject in Matric and won the School Art prize. I left school in 1971, and the studied to become a school teacher. After 32 years of teaching I retired and moved to Hermanus in the Western Cape. I was so inspired by the local talent here that I decided to pursue my passion for Art. I am particularly interested in the human form and a lot of my work portrays this. I try and portray human emotions, love, hate, anger, deception. How fragile life is. I paint wildlife as well and consider myself to be diversified in my artistic style.

I am a qualified Pre Primary Teacher and am a self taught artist.

I have exhibited at the NSA gallery in KZN and have works displayed in numerous galleries throughout the Overberg. I also held my own solo exhibition at the Hermanus Fynarts 2016.
