Susan Case

I was born in Brooklyn, New York and was raised on Long Island. Presently I live and work in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A dramatic switch from East to West,from crowding to wide open spaces , and a humid climate to one that is dry.
I like to experiment with materials and give the viewer something to think about. My artwork always begins with an idea.. I have worked for a long time with mixed media, collage, sculpture, assemblage and have exhibited widely locally as well as nationally. My inspirations come from everything that is around me. I seek a balance between spontaneity and structure, expression and form. I have recently started to draw people again with an emphasis on character and reality and what makes that person unique. Living in New York City with it fabulous museums opened my eyes to the art of the world. This exposure to such diversity has influenced me in the many ways that art can be done.
