Susan Campbell Sheridan is an interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of lens-based media, sculpture installation, and intervention. She obtained an MFA in Art, Media and Design from OCADU after extensive studies in design and digital media in Ireland.
Campbell Sheridan investigates signs and patterns of urban intensification as played out on development sites, parking lots, and public sidewalks. Her work frequently explores physical mapping practices as a means to interpret and reflect on the liminality found within urban landscapes and confronts issues brought about by the intensification of urban development. Her work prompts viewers to question the economic frameworks which shape their built environment, and particularly how such frameworks drive spatial and social segregation.
Campbell Sheridan has most recently exhibited at the Foundry Arts Centre in St. Charles, Missouri, the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto, the Thames Art Gallery in Chatham, and 2 Rooms Contemporary Art Projects on the Bonavista Peninsula. She has received grants from Canada Council of the Arts and Ontario Arts Council. Current projects include map-making activities with the Port Hope community through the Critical Mass Artist-in-Residence...
