Vandana Mehta

I am drawn to female form, expressions, beauty, and draw inspiration, to begin with. I work with oil paints on canvas and Plexiglas with an underpainting in acrylic, inks, and gold leaf. Laying paint in layers of oils and glazes creates rich visual texture. My new series "Efflorescence"(Meaning Burst into flower) are modern women with flamboyant Floral Heads. They give viewers a voyeuristic escape, imagining they are part of a different life or reminding them of a piece of theirs. Self-love, Self-discovery, and the limitless nature of our lives are the driving force behind my work.
My art is all about the metamorphosis and beautiful transformation one can achieve by embracing oneself. I want the viewers to connect and explore fond memories through my paintings. As a young artist, my style is constantly evolving and changing but it revolves around my experiences and observation of the world we live in. I use classical painting techniques coupled with Expressivemark making pouring energy into my feminine portraits.
