The heart and soul of my photography lies within the movements of both animate and inanimate objects, with dancers being the medium that I have found to be most inspiring. I couple them with elements like paper and plastic in order to explore the endless variety of outcomes that can come about through interplay with light. A minimalist yet vibrant and powerful aesthetic is born through the reflections, color, lines and shadows created with the use of strobe lighting.
I see my photo sessions as an explosion of energies where the dancer and myself form a temporary oneness of purpose. The resulting images are driven by intuition and this momentary connection of our feelings. The sessions with the dancers do not start with a final product in mind. Within the hour that we are together, the dancer is asked to explore movements without feeling concern for shape or form. Instead I ask that them to be inspired by a thought or a feeling that I share with them and to let go of their inhibitions.
I aim to capture a moment in its true form, allowing myself to shoot intuitively and performing minimal post-production to the images. Using photography as a medium of expression, I intend to explore the connection between beings and the univer...
