I often find answers to my inner questions while looking at flowers. After the start of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, I had to leave my home in Kyiv, moving first to Tallinn, Estonia, and later to Kraków, Poland, in search of stability and belonging. Amidst uncertainty and constant relocation, painting plants became my way to restore balance and reconnect with myself. Through this practice, I reflect on emotions often left unspoken: living with depression, the passage of time, resilience, and the need to adapt to circumstances beyond our control.
My works grow from close observation of natural forms – fragile yet enduring – which mirror my own search for harmony. For me, painting plants is not only about their beauty, but also about turning them into symbols of strength, silence, and renewal.
